5th Grade

The Fifth-Grade year can be referred to as the “golden year” or the “heart of childhood”. A sense of inner harmony arises in the child that breeds a renewed enthusiasm for learning. They feel comfortable and competent and are eager to absorb new skills. The study of ancient civilizations allows the students to gain a perspective of the world through the art, music and mythology of these early people. The children continue to expand their perspective of the world via the study of North American geography and the physical characteristics of the earth in relationship to plant life. In botany, a deeper look into the classification of plants is experienced through outdoor exploration and drawing. In math, students review fractions and build a connection to decimals developing the freedom to convert them.
